Rejuvenate!!

Sonya Leigh Anderson

Photo shared from the Camp Shamineau website

Last weekend was amazing, in so many ways. The Rejuvenate retreat at Shamineau, and all those beautiful women. I wasn’t expecting so many women.

Every other time I’ve been to this particular camp I’ve been speaking for kids or teens. And every time I’ve come away thinking “this is what God made me to do.” Last weekend was no exception. Camp is my heaven-on-earth and teaching in that setting is my sweet spot. Regardless of the audience.

I did not take one photo the entire time. And later of course I regretted it. But at the time I think I was so caught up in being present to the moments, not once did I think of taking out my phone to capture the memories. Instead those memories will live on in my head and in my journals, words and word-pictures, stored and savored and cherished.

I could tell one story after another of God’s faithfulness and provision. I kept a notebook of the women I met, and a bit of each story. To remember later, and pray.

A sister-in-law, surprising me.

A former Green Lake neighbor, sister in Christ.

A woman with a story of loss and grief and breakthrough of light.

A Bible study leader from the Czech Republic.

A mom of sons, asking for prayer.

Horses and Healing.

A Legacy connection.

Daughter of an author-pastor, and—“You should really meet my mom!”

A precious young married, abiding in Jesus, listening to the Spirit… taking stories home to her husband.

A woman who knits and prays—and the Spirit told her to give the blanket to me for my grandson!!

A fellow-speaker, a decade of struggles, but her countenance speaks of remarkable joy.

A young gal with an amazing story, thinking about writing a book.

A mama of four, pregnant and weary, asking Jesus to fill her with LIFE. (Yes and amen. I trust Him to make you fully alive!!)

And on and on and on they go.

So many women. So many stories. Answers to prayer. God’s faithful provision.

I’ve never laughed so hard and sang so loud. Soaking up the sound of all those voices. The wonder of women in wholehearted worship. Taste of eternity, no doubt.

I am filled to overflowing. Gratitude and awe. That God would use me… use my stories… His Story.

A God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Yahweh.

Jesus does for us what we could never do for ourselves. Jesus is our covenant keeper.

Holy Spirit. New Covenant Helper. Making us faithful and holy. Writing God’s Word on our hearts.

Father, Son, and Spirit. You keep your side of the covenant; and you keep our side, too.

God is good, and He is faithful.

God, we trust you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Amen.
